Medical insurance for abroad
I need to buy medical insurance and evacuation insurance for my trip to Thailand. However, I do not need to get travel cancellation insurance. Any suggestions of companies to go to or do I have to get the full trip cancellation package.
Thanks

I've used CSA, Access America and Travel Guard. Thankfully have never needed to use these. But you have to ask which company offers the best for what you need. And why isnt travel cancellation necessary - would indicate that you haven't prepaid for anything other than airline tickets. On the other hand if you have prepaid for a tour package, I would definitely have cancellation insurance as anything can happen between today and when you departs; same as for interruption - if prepaid, and something happens, you want to be covered.
But most all comprehensive policies also include baggage loss or delay, loss of use, so you have to decide what you require.
If only medical, dental is important, be sure you have no pre-existing conditions; or is it evacuation insurance. Many companies sell segmented coverage, where you don't always have to buy everything.
While insurance can seem to be an expense many don't consider when planning a trip, we've always purchased comprehensive packages and come what may. Basically those found on www.insuremytrip.com are reputable and are priced similiarly. Just be sure to read and understand what is "excluded" and if you have any questions you can contact of these companies for clarification.

I actually think I will get complete coverage rather than just medical since the price is about the same. I'm prepaying very little since I'm using ff miles for the airline. However, I will probably prepay my Chiang Mai hotel online and I have to prepay the three nights around New Years at the Oriental as well as their New Year Eve dinner. I've stayed at the Oriental enough so I'm sure they would give me back the money if I have to cancel but I decided I may as well have the coverage so I know I won't have a problem.
