Beaches on the Southwest coast should be still good in March, by April the monsoons turn and the beaches on the East Coast are very good but west coast starts getting rough seas.

History/leopards etc good both months

April is high local holiday season from around 10th - 20th April.

There is no fuel shortage anymore.

For a trip focused on history, wildlife (especially leopards), and beaches/snorkelling, February to April is ideal for Sri Lanka. February and March generally have drier weather on both the south and west coasts, making them great months for beach activities and snorkelling in areas like Unawatuna, Hikkaduwa, and Mirissa.

For leopards and other wildlife, Yala National Park and Wilpattu National Park are popular spots, with February to April offering favourable conditions for wildlife sightings. Sri Lanka’s historical sites, like Sigiriya, Anuradhapura, and Polonnaruwa, are also best explored in these cooler months.

Fuel and other shortages have mostly stabilized, so you should have no major issues getting around.

Hope this helps, and enjoy your time in Sri Lanka!

Hi, my wife and I are considering Sri Lanka 20 April - 5 May. What's the weather like? Should we expect lots of rain? I am not sure we should take the chance, or should we just plan for a different period.
