lao airlines
Anybody purchase an e-ticket with Lao? I was just about to buy a ticket when I saw a disclaimer "To ensure ticket price, ticket must be purchased in the country of flight origin". I'm buying the ticket while still in the US for a Lao flight.
Was the price as paid?

You cannot purchase a Lao Air ticket online. There is a French tavel agent that purports to be selling Lao Air tickets, but they are not valid. If you want to take a Lao Air flight, wait to buy your ticket until you are there.

Bought my ticket online thru the official Lao airline site (note, the real site has NO hyphen in its address). The Lao airlines site only works properly with internet explorer, no other provider. I got an e-mail confirmation. Also got a note saying that I will get an itinerary e-mailed in 3 days. Fingers crossed that everything will be ok!
I did notice on other forums that reconfirmations are needed for Lao Airlines flights since they have a tendency to change flight times without notification!
P.S. Thanks, Kathie, for all the great info, both thru the forum and thru your trip reports! I have been taking copious notes.

When I traveled on Lao Airlines this past spring, I was able to BOOK online via an email message to the airline.
However, they did tell me in the response that I would have to pick up the paper ticket and pay for it in the country of flight origin.
Im my case, for my flight from Chiang Mai, Thailand to Luang Prabang, Lao it was necessary for me to wait until I arrived in Chiang Mai and then taxi over to the Lao ticket office.
Payment had to be made in CASH only, and ONLY in Thai currency: no U.S. currency and no credit card transaction. Be aware also that the 2 women running the office do not report for work at exactly 9am and that they take more than one hour for lunch.
The flight by the way was okay: no bad and not spectacular.
Obtaining the ticket though was cumbersome in this day and age.
Enjoy your trip!
