Inter Asia flights ?

Hello

I am in Hong Kong for three weeks from September and was thinking of using it as a base to fly and discover somewhere else in Asia . However I can't seem to find any good interasia flight sites or deals except to Thailand where I have already been. Would be grateful if anyone could help?
Thanks

You had replies to your other post. There are not a lot of cheap operators going out of Hong Kong. Try Macau, look at http://www.macau-airport.gov.mo/en/index.php to see who operates out of there, I believe you can get to many places, including Vietnam. You can take a ferry to Macau in about an hour. You can also go out of Shenzhen airport. Sorry don’t have a website for that, it is also about an hour from Hong Kong.

You can also go into the PRC by train, if you go first class it is not a bad way. I have not traveled too much in the PRC this way, but you might consider it. A sleeper to Beijing or Shanghai would be quite cheap. You can get a PRC visa here in Hong Kong very easily, takes a day or two.

It very much depends where you are going, Air Asia fly from Macau and Viva macau fly to a few places, but airfares on many routes can be very competative with lots of airlines flying the routes, so it depends very much where you are going, also that determines where to base, Bangkok has masses of budget and cheap flights around Asia.
http://www.tiglion.com/ is worth looking at for flights from HK.

I found Hong Kong cheap to fly from, having visited Japan, Taiwan and Singapore from there in the past (I usually travel overland into China).

Local English language newspapers have cheap flights ads and I found a number of the tower blocks at the ferry end of Nathan Road had travel agents in (check the boards which list businesses. There are some on ground level too.

There is no real low-cost carrier based at Hong Kong, unlike Singapore, Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur. On routes like HKG-TPE/BKK/SIN, there are a lot of carriers and flights, so they are quite reasonable. Tokyo also usually okay, as there's Northwest (and UA until it discontinued that route).

Like others have suggested, consider Macau for a few routes, and Shenzhen for most Chinese destinations.

For other routes like to Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia and Malaysia for example, flights are limited and usually two airlines running them. Keep fares high.
