Hotel Prepayment Rajasthan

For my upcoming trip to Rajasthan I have mixed a few smaller heritage properties with the larger well known hotel groups. With the smaller properties I have been asked for credit card details for prepayment. Is this usual? Also how secure is it doing this?

If it's a heritage property I'd say you can trust them. Just make sure you don't cancel!

How far away is your trip? Does the hotel want the cc details for full payment in advance or as a guarantee to hold your reservation?

Trip planned for end Oct. All the smaller properties want payment in advance - I was surprised that the Taj Hari Mahal in Jodhpur also took 1 of 2 nights payment up front!
