Guides: Bangkok, Luang Prabang, Vientiane, Hoi An, Hue
My husband and I are assembling our upcoming trip to SE Asia, including the above cities. We will take local transport plus our feet to various places within each city but would also like to venture out into the countryside to see historic and beautiful sites. Can anyone recommend guide services? We know that guides can be arranged through hotels but it would be good to survey the field.

I'd highly recommend a day tour of Hue with Hue Riders. It was a blast:

Thanks.
I have written to Tong but haven't yet heard back. As far as Hoi An and Luang Prabang are concerned, we will guide ourselves within those towns but want to go out into the countryside, for which we would need transportation and possibly a guide.

Several fodorites have used Ta in Luang Prabang khamta keovongsy <[email protected]> Rates in Laos when I was there were controlled by the government, and seemed high compared to Siem Reap but we were very happy with him. Nothing was too much trouble. I enjoyed his company so much I did a travel site for him when we came home -- but for the life of me, I can't find the web address. If I can I'll post later.
