Bali trip input...

I'm trying to figure out how many days (arrival and departing days don't count) for a good introduction to Bali. I'm guessing maybe 7 or 8 days? I'll be going at the end of October and be based in or near Ubud.

I'm considering the following places in Ubud:

you can do a nice job in 5 full days, but 7 would be nicer...

rhkkmk - did you get temple overload? I love architecture - I can peak into churches and wander through villages all day much to the frustration of friends who have travelled with me - but I do have a saturation point so to speak. What was your experience?

I'd allow at least a week for a first trip to Bali. There are a lot more than temples to see in Bali. And the Balinese temples are widely varied. I've never gotten temple overlaod. And, of course, you don't want to spend all of your time out touring, save time for soaking up the atmosphere. On my first trip to Bali many years ago, we spent two weeks and we toured every other day.

I'd say a full week. Bali is a great place to just chill-out in. So, if you get tired of temples, eating, and shopping then just become a lounge lizard. Happy Travels!

If you do get bored, or are just looking for some different experiences, drop by Pondok Pekek, a library cum community center just off the football field in the middle of town. They have classes in cooking, flower arranging, music and other activities, plus a bulletin board full of other options.
