Hey Fodorites. I am leaving soon for a trip to New Delhi, Jaipur, Agra and Varanasi. Will there be ATMs readily accessible in these places? Trying to figure out how much cash to bring.

No problems with ATM's in India. These are all major cities with lots of banks and lots of ATM's.

there ar eplenty of atms all over the place, but local ones only dispense small amounts per transaction.....

look for citibank atms or other international banks to w/d a reasonable amount per transaction

Easy to find all over! The ATMs will have a big bank sign,but are actually just a little room with an ATM machine inside and an armed guard outside.

I found that CitiBanks worked the most consistently. Many would give 20,000 RS, but some gave only 10,000 ($225 US +/-).

If an ATM doesn't work, try again, try a smaller amount, or try another one down the road. Lots of them just wouldn't work on the first try and would give no explanation as to why.
