So glad lcuy is FREE!

Some of us old timers remember the banning frenzy of a few years ago when Patrick was banned - and then people were banned for talking about the banning - and went off and started TOS. There was a definite chill on Fodors for a long while after that - I just saw this thread today and was happy to read it was resolved and that others were able to talk about it without consequence. (although I have yet to figure out if the original reason was a mistake or not?)

Gpanda - it was in the Fall of 2005 - a regular poster (mainly on the Europe and US Boards) corrected some information in a post on the US Board (the information was really unimportant) - then the fur started to fly. The poster was banned and then others were banned for keeping the issue alive. A group left Fodors and started another website that I still go to occasionally - there are still several cross posters I believe.

It really put a pall on the site for some time. I've recently realized that the original poster is back under a new name - clearly Fodor's must know as it's a distinctive name.

Elizabeth, I'd heard rumors at the time about people from the Europe board being banned. That barely caused a ripple here on the Asia board.

No it wasn't Spygirl - I really hesitate to name the person.

"TOS" was code language on the boards at that time for "that other site" - if you mentioned the actual name of the site you were banned as well (a whole lot o' banning goin' on at that time).

Here goes nothin'...........

Just checking to see when the GTG in Boston is to see if dear lcuy is in need of orchard apples.

She is in good company of the been banned redemption song gang of posters that get up and stand up for other posters rights!

The Boston GTG is 10/11/08. Nearly everyone is invited. We're also going to have a pre-GTG dinner on 10/10/08. Maybe even outside Cambridge.

NEARLY everybody is invited...

This implies, to my fevered brain, that there are some definately NOT invited.

Any names you care to share Gpanda?

Bob is not invited. The only way he gets to attend is that he is one of the organizers. It is Cambridge. We do have some standards. He will use the Tradememen entrance. Parking in a satellite lot. Come to think of it, perhaps he should wear a uniform. Something frilly would suit.

Additionally, Spygirl is not invited. Nor are any of her other noms de pleume.

AskOksana, however, is definitely invited. If she comes, she will be your co-awardee. Different awards.

Wha...? Wha..? You mean AskOksana is a WOMAN?

Seriously... have I been misreading all [her] posts? The AskOksana I'M reading seems to be about as hetero-sexual and lusty a MAN as I've ever read...

Oh dear. [see my latest post in the Varanasi thread]

Dogster, take a careful look at the name of the "lusty" poster on your thread. You will notice it is subtly different from AskOksana.

It's a long story...

The Dogsters thread is liberally spiced with solid contributions from AskOks----e-----na not the one, the only AskOksana. There is an unfinished thread started by AskOksana that has reached legendary status. As Kathie says, it's a long story. No doubt, it will be pepeated and rehashed at many GTG's in the future.
