Alam Shanti alternative

We have finally decided to split our trip up in Bali 2 nights in Nusa Dua or Seminyak, 2 Ubud, 3 Hanging Gardens. As per recommendations from this board (thanks rrkwan) I tried to book the Alam Shanti for the other 2 Ubud days and it's unavilable except for one of the cheapest rooms which is nothing special. Any alternatives that are a short walk from town - up to $250 USD a night...

Thanks in advance.

Hi
I stayed at Nefatari villas.
they are not a short walk to town, but there is a driver on call to take you and pick you up from wherever you are in Ubud. It is about a 5 minute drive.
It was never a problem and we never had to wait for them at all.
These villas are lovely and the staff very pleasant and friendly.
I would not hesitate to stay there again - breakfasts are delicious(especially the banana pancakes).

In Seminyak I stayed at the Ulin Villas - in a word - divine.

Are your dates overlapping with the Ubud Writers Festival, October 3 to 7? That may be the problem. On the other hand you may want to attend.

I like the Komeneka group. Also Uma Ubud.

I stayed at the Komineki, not the newst, opened 12-18 months ago but the one somewhat older but NOT the downtown one, for 3 nights and enjoyed it very much. It has a very steep flight of stairs is it's only drawdack but the Hanging Gardgen has it's drawback of quite a walk to the entrance but it is quite nice. The Kominika is a bit less than the Hanging Garden in a Deluxe Villa.

I stayed at Cinta Inn (also Cinta Grill, restaurant is more well known than the inn). It is in the heart of downtown Ubud, on Monkey Forest Rd. It was cute, clean, modern. Nice pool, nice amenities, great mango mojitos at happy hour. Not comparable by any means to Hanging Gardens (we stayed there also and did NOT want to leave). I might seriously consider lengthening your stay at Hanging Gardens. The ride into town is about 20-30 minutes, really not that bad and the property is just so lovely.

I just remembered the Kominika I referenced is on Monkey Road. We thought it is as nice in appearance to Alam Shanti and was just about $225 last Sept.
