Agoda for dummies

I have used Agoda few times and have only recently started booking with this website. I have a question about the Agoda Rewards Points program. I have signed up and I do have a few reward points, is this program worthwhile? I can use Agoda for my upcoming trip and in some cases they are less than other websites (even when taxes are added and in some cases they are $1 or $5 more a night, this small price difference is nothing to quible about). If I get enough reward points can I redeem them for free nights at any Agoda hotel? And, is this program legitimate? I need to book alot of hotels for my upcoming trip and haven't booked some nights as I can use Agoda for these reservations but I want to check on the reward points program before I do. As for the hotels that Agoda can't book, I've already booked those. Any advice on the pros and cons of Agoda Reward Points will be appreciated. Thank you.

I haven't (yet) redeemed any agoda reward points. But there is a poster here who does regularly redeem point. From what she said, she used points each time she accumulated them. So, if she had, say, a $10 point credit, she would just use it for her next reservation. She even talked about booking while on the road so she could use the credit she had just earned.

The points don't expire that quickly - no more so than airlines. You have about two years to use them. I don't accumulate points that quickly because I don't stay in hotels that are that expensive, but when I do get enough for $100 off or so, I use it.

Do note that points are only redeemable in blocks of $10 or $25, so you can't just use points for a stay unless the value is exactly equal to a multiple of redeemable point. For example, if the value of the booking is $59 you'll only be given the option of redeeming $50 in points and paying the balance in cash.

One thing I find odd about the program is that they award points in the thousands, but then 10,000 points is only worth like $1 off. Not sure what the reasoning behind that is.

I go to Thailand twice and year and use Agoda for all my hotel bookings. I get about $50 rewards and I use them for my next trip. It takes 30 days from when you leave, for the points to be deposited in your account. For extra points, do a online review after your stay. It's not alot, but its better than nothing. I don't think other reservation services have reward service. I have also used their guarantee lowest price service and it worked out for me.
