3 weeks in Vietnam/Thailand
I am planning a solo trip to Southern Vietnam in August and am wondering if 3 weeks is enough to see HCM/Mekong Delta/Nha Trang and possibly see parts of Thailand or Cambodia? Any recomendations about 3-4 day trips to the Delta would be appreciated. Any info on Thailand in less than a week would be helpful as well. Thanks,
Drew

Hello,

I live in Bangkok Thailand, actually I don't know your favourite style, then I give you a general information. For 3-4 days in Thailand actually is not enough. Anyway I'd suggest you two alternative trip:-
-Culture, Shopping tour mostly in Bangkok city. First day with Wat Pra Kaew (Buddish Temple) and Royal Palace. Second day, Ayutthaya (80 kilometer from Bangkok), old capital city of thailand (ruined by Burmese last 220 years). Day Three and Four, city tour and shopping, you can find one of the cheapest things in the world.
all day tour you can buy at your hotel in Bangkok or booking in further at your agency (remember one thing Thailand is the cheapest cost of living place and very nice place for traveller)
-Natural tour, go to Samui Island or Phuket Island (choose one of each, for 3-4 days). You can have all range of accommodation, resturant (for example accommodation from 5 USD to five stars hotel and resort).
if you need more information please contact me and give me more detail, I will give you more.

Have a good trip,
Mr.Somsak Veeraphan

Hi Drew,

There never seems to be enough time, but three weeks is still three weeks and you can have some wonderful experiences if you don't move around too much.

You might consider a three-city route: 1) Bangkok (with the previous poster's suggestions including Ayuttaya).
2) Fly from Bangkok to PP, Cambodia and then up to Siem Riep and the temples of Angkor for a couple of days.
3) Fly from Cambodia to Saigon and do day trips out of the city. There are lots of Mekong Delta tours ranging from a day to a week. They're inexpensive, relatively easy, really incredible and, I think, much more interesting than Nha Trang(which is lovely, but not that interesting.)

I would suggest you look at buying a round-trip ticket to Bangkok and book the Bangkok-Cambodia-HCM-Bangkok flight in Bangkok. There are also a lot of flights to Vietnam via Bangkok so you could use the stopover to enjoy a week in Bangkok and for your jaunt to Cambodia.

You'll have a great time no matter how much /how little time you spend in these wonderful places.

Feel free to email me directly for more specific ideas.

Sunny Tours and Treks.
193 / 13 Sridonchai Road,
Chiang- Mai.Thailand
Tel : (66) 53 273442
mobile : (66) 01 4433609
fax : (66) 53 405244
email: [email protected]

Hello,
Thank you for taking an interest in Sunny Treks. I am a local man who has lived in Chiang Mai for 18 years and has been a trekking guide for over 6. I have recently started my own business and I hold a T.A.T license from the Tourist Board. I have a very good knowledge of the local hill-tribes and my trekkers and I aim to make a minimal impact on the daily lives of the villages.
There are 2 areas in Northern Thailand that I trek in. The first is the Pai region, where we will meet the Lisu and Lahu people from Tibet and the Karen tribe from Myanmar. The second area is very close to the border with Myanmar where we meet the Lahu, Lisu and the Akha tribes from Tibet. I avoid the more touristic areas.
Chiang Mai is the base for all my tours and the second largest city in Thailand. The people here are extremely friendly and the pace of life is very relaxed. There are many beautiful temples and sights to see. The night bazaar is a fantastic place to see the locals and their produce, and to buy your souvenirs.
Accommodation in Chiang Mai is varied depending on how much you want to spend. For a double room with fan and bathroom in a clean and quiet hotel, with a large swimming pool it is 300 baht. For something simpler you can have a clean and quiet room with fan for 150 baht. I can arrange accommodation for you in advance to suit your budget, and have relationships with several good guesthouses. I do not take any commission on accommodation. I can also pick you up on your arrival to Chiang Mai.
My trek includes elephant trekking, visiting a local waterfall, bamboo rafting and 2 nights accommodation in the jungle. All food is included and cooked by myself and is traditional Thai. The recommended T.A.T price for a 3 day 2 night trek is between 1500-1800 baht, depending on what is included in the trek. My tour is an all inclusive price of 1600 baht, which includes transport to and from the trek.
Thank you for showing an interest in Sunny Tours, if you need any more information please get in touch. If you'd like to book, please send me rough dates that you are going to be in Chiang Mai and I will start to organise your trek. I generally start a trek on the Friday of every week, but I can arrange other days if needed.
I hope to hear from you soon,

Sunny
