UA Requirements for Luggage Size for Carryon

Anyone flown UA since they started enforcing the carry on size limits. Are they really checking bags that closely as to the size? If they are placing bags in sizers, where are they doing this? My favorite suitcase is close to 23" with the wheels. The limit requirement is 22". Thanks

I've had seven United flights in the last four weeks (ORD, PHX, LAX, SFO) and haven't been asked to put anything in a sizer--and, moreover, only heard the gate agent mention the sizer once in pre-boarding announcements. I saw some bags carried on the plane in LA a couple of days ago that almost certainly wouldn't have fit in the sizer.

But as with everything, I'm sure enforcement is inconsistent and YMMV....

Yestravel, you should take a look on flyertalk at their forums. You'll want to check United Mileage Plus forum. Lots of threads about lots of UA complaints, including experience with the new sizers. In my own experience, and I've been on probably 4-5 flights since it started, I have not seen anyone being stopped. TPA in the past has been the place where GAs notice over-sized items IME. You'll probably be OK.......

Thanks, I'll check Flyertalk. I read that the sizes are a bit larger than the dimensions.

I've flown UA three times in the past few weeks and have not been asked to use the sizer, but then again, my carry on is within the allowed dimensions.

Just boarded a UA flight in Houston - they were using the sizer. I've seen it used at boarding for a couple of other flights I have taken this year also.

Just took a roundtrip and neither flight used the sizers for anyone.

Just flew from DEN-LAX - not a word about sizers, although I did see a guy using one and flight attendants were pleading with folks to check in their non-essential roll aboards. Of course no one did.
