Any decent economy seats on KLM combo economy?
Hi all,
My husband and I are flying to and from Amsterdam on KLM and it looks like our plane is the dreaded 747-400 combo. There's no way to change it now and we're stuck in coach (unless anyone has any ideas)... are there any decent seats we should be booking in coach?
Right now, we have 32 window & aisle (hoping the middle won't show) on the way out and the aisle and interior seat (middle section) of row 32 on the way back. So far, the plane is pretty empty so we can sit anywhere that isn't premium.
Thanks in advance!

Without elite status, your options are limited. If you have elite status with KLM or their partners, then it is worth a call to see if you can get into preferred seating.
Otherwise, you likely won't be able to pre-reserve any of the preferred seats and will have to wait until check-in. Otherwise, I usually try to book aisle/window or aisle/aisle. People are far less likely to book a middle seat if the plane isn't full, so leaving an empty seat between you is probably your best hope to improve your comfort. If someone sits between you, they will always trade for one of your better seats.

Thanks, rkkwan and travelgourmet. Alas, we don't have elite status with KLM or Delta, so we're limited to the online check-in option. Does this open up 24 hours prior to the flight or do we have to wait until we get to the airport?
In the meantime, we'll stick with the window/aisle plan and hope the flight isn't full!

Hmm... sounds good. I'll set an alarm for 30 hours before the flight and check it out.
I just hope it's not as bad as our last flight to Europe... we mistakenly thought a 2-seat exit row on Delta would be a good idea and nearly froze to death as smarter travelers behind us staked out empty four-seat rows and went to bed.
