Sheldrick Sanctuary/Giraffe Center/Blixen Museum Day Trip
My husband and I are going to Kenya & Tanzania in July. We will have a full day in Nairobi before the tour begins and wish to visit the Sheldrick Sanctuary, Giraffe Center & Blixen Museum. Our travel agent quoted a very high price for the two of us (almost $500) and we want to see if we can arrange something that won't cost as much.
There was a similar post in 2005 but I'm interested if anyone has any updated information. We will be staying at the Serena Hotel in Nairobi and are thinking maybe we should ask the concierge at the hotel to arrange a day trip for us.
Thanks in advance.

Hi
Last year our tour operator booked a private vehicle for the two of us for a similar day. $275 for the vehicle for 8 hours with driver/guide (who was far better than we expected). They used Gamewatchers who are well known and well thought of as far as I know. Gamewatchers are known on this forum for safaris but they must offer other services such as this because, although we did not go on safari with them, they were contracted for all our transfers, the full day and airport collections etc and all went smoothly. This did not include entry fees to anywhere you might visit or the tip.
Of course, it may be that our operator had a special arrangement with them but it is worth asking.
Hope that helps

I'd definitely recommend Kennedy Muthoka for your Nairobi tours. I've gone with him a couple of times and have him scheduled for several day tours with various members of my group that will be in Nairobi in July. His prices are reasonable and he's quite personable. You'll learn a lot about about Kenya and its people from him. His e-mail address is [email protected].

The last time I paid for a full day use of vehicle with a driver/guide was in 2010 and I paid $180 (not including entry fees). Try contacting [email protected].
Have a great trip!
