Namibia - where to start touring?
Hi Everyone,
As some of you may know my son is now living in Swakopmund whilst working as a stunt driver/performer in the new Mad Max Fury Road movie which is being filmed there.
Some of the crew now have two weeks off and he wants to go exploring. They have done the quad bike tour a number of times now.
If he were to head to a game park what would be the top recommendation? They have a vehicle but are tempted to actually go on an organised tour just the same.
He is terribly keen to get to Victoria Falls but had planned to do that at the end of filming when he has plenty of time.
Any suggestions of destinations and tour companies would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Stormbird

About this time of year I would think the western side of Etosha would be an excellent place to see wildlife. No need for a tour company to drive you around in my opinion. Nambia is an easy country to self-drive, as is Etosha. Many people seem to be very happy with Gemma Dry at http://www.discover-namibia-safari.net/index.html I wouldn't hesitate to email her and ask for help in planning a trip around Namibia.

My son has emailed this proposed itinerary.

10 Fri - Sossusvlei > Luderitz - 499km 7hr 08min

12 Sun - Fish River Canyon > Keetmanshoop - 171km 2hr 33min
13 Mon - Keetmanshoop > Hardap - 272km 3hr 58min
14 Tue - Hardap > Naankuse - 331km 4hr 37min
15 Wed - Naankuse >Etosha - 444km 6hr 11min
16 Thu - Etosha
17 Fri - Etosha > Swakopmund - 518km 7hr 36min
18 Sat -
19 Sun -
Already, I know what you're going to say. Now I've never been to Namibia so I have been relying on internet searches but would really love your feedback please.
I feel that he should have two nights at Sossusvlei in order to spend a day out on the dunes.
I'd give Luderitz a miss this time.
Fish River Canyon should have at least a two night stay.
As to places such as Keetmanshoop and Hardap National Park well to me I'd just use them as an overnight but would welcome some feedback.
I think three nights at Etosha rather than two?
He is trying to do way too much so any help please would be great.

Is he planning to see anything other than the roads of Namibia?
I agree 2 nights at Sossusvlei. We even stayed some place on the way instead of driving from Swakop in one day. We stopped at Hardap for lunch and it didn't seem like there was much too see.
