I'm considering visiting Kenya in late November, with our scheulde it's then or never. Currently looking at Masai, Amboseli etc. Not really looking to start a thread on which places to visit, but rather, will be pleased with the animal viewing at this time of year? Hoping to get some first hand feedback .

The animals do not go on vacation. They're always there.

While you'll probably miss the "migration" in the Masai Mara, there is more game than you can imagine to make for a successful safari.

Late-Nov, prices are at mid-season as it's the "short" rainy period, but it's rare to rain daily, even all day... if it even does. Should it, only a brief thunderstorm that soon clears and the sun shines, or overnight showers... neither of which will inhibit safari.

Have been to Kenya several times and different months of the year and we have always enjoyed because the animals are in plenty,this year we did a long safari of seven days from nairobi to Lake Nakru,masai mara,Amboseli,tsavo west and Ost and then a week at the beach and it was amazing.Aktive safaris made sure that we are comfortable and satisfied.

You can fly between Amboseli and the Mara, if those are the places you want to go.

Sadly, just one week. Not particularly interested in beaches, only care about seeing animals and the countryside. Since I will be traveling a great distance to have this experience, my only concern is spending the time/money if this isn't an optimal time of year to visit.

I've been often end-November and never disappointed.

"Optimal" is only if the "migration" is of important, but this is a moving object, wildebeest, zebra and gazelle, transiting between the Masai Mara in Kenya (between June-Oct), thru the entire Serengeti in Tanzania (the other months and in various places depending on which). But safari is more than the migration, why anytime is a good time for safari.

November is good as prices are quite competitive and often less visitors, but not less game. Many people DO choose the so-called "rainy" (again rare, or little wet) months due to budget, so no reason you or others shouldn't.

If 7 days on the ground in Africa, I'd consider flying from NBO to Amboseli (2) then fly to Mara (5) and fly back to NBO.

Or

Fly NBO to Samburu (3, although 2 is standard), then fly to Mara (4) then fly back to NBO.

Agree with the optimal discussion. It will be a great first trip for you.
