Harper Bazaar's recommendations for safari wardrobe
http://www.harpersbazaar.com/fashion...ks-safari-0408
In case anyone is wondering what to pack, this month's Harper's Bazaar has a spread set "on safari." Among the recommendations: A full-length bright yellow Lavin gown ($5800) worn with 5 inch high heels. Hair/ headgear recommendations include 60's style teased bouffant, a wig made out of leather strips, and a leopard print bowler hat. The print edition has some helpful packing tips, so maybe someone will take it seriously! I hope so. All that khaki could get a bit dull.

Wonderful tips to bookmark. The olive khaki dress will go rather nicely with my leopard polish and Jimmy Choos.
Just think, someone will come back and write a complaint thread about me - dress to impress.
Thanks for a chuckle.

How surreal! Are we sure it's NOT an April Fool's joke?
I could understand if it was simply a fashion shoot that happened to have Africa as the backdrop but the link clearly titles it as "Spring's Hottest Looks For Safari"!
Eeeeeeeeee!
I'm not into fashion at the best of times (I hate buying clothes, shoes, handbags...) so this is waaaay beyond odd for me!

I wouldn't be able to afforda ny more than a loincloth if Mrs Kimburu picked up that lot for the September trip.
On another note, I think somehow this excerpt clarifies safari chic very well. (WARNING - VERY suggestive use of language!) "Bushbaby" is a guide or ranger, by the way.
".... We met over a weekend, where I discarded my high-power suit, my impossibly high stiletto heels and opted instead for an outfit a la safari chic. My power clothes are my mask — they make me look the part of the suitably intimidating corporate — a bitch who'll rip a man's heart still throbbing from it's rib cage. A woman who means business in the boardroom and even more business in the bedroom.
Safari chic on the other hand makes me feel vulnerable — like someone who isn't aware of her sexual prowess — but my friends insisted I fit in with the 'general vibe' at Sabi Sabi — so I tetchily left my hardcore demeanour at the office.
It was when I had puffer jacket on with no mascara, that I met Bush Baby. We were talking beds within five minutes. I knew in the first parts of our conversation how soft his bed was, what undergarments he wore and how he loved taking - CENSORED -."

The full article is here for those who can wait to find out what happens next! It's R-rated.

Seriously, I hadn't really got this safari chic thing until I read that paragraph (not that I really need that knowledge, but it's always nice to be in the know).

Comment from a safari buddy (sorry, no names)
"I think the lodges would come running to see if I stole their lounge curtains if I wore the golden/yellow number!"
Different color, but reminds me of those window drapes at Crater Lodge... ugh!
