I don't know the hotel but can tell you a few things about Sea Point. It's on the Atlantic side, and could be best described as "cosmopolitan". For many years it was regarded as the SA Jewish retirement centre but over the years the area has deteriorated a lot with casinos and brothels moving in. A lot of effort has been put in of late to clean it up but I don't think with much result. That having been said - during the day it is full of pavement cafe's, interesting restaurants and deli's and safe - just watch out for street children pickpockets. The best thing about Sea Point is that it is centrally located - you can hop on a bus and be at the V&A Waterfront within minutes and there is easy access to other Cape Town attractions. If you're hiring a car - pretty much a requirement in Cape Town - then you are also a 5 minute drive from Camps Bay which is just gorgeous and has far better beaches!

Parts of Regent Rd can be sleezy. I suppose it depends on what kind of accommodation you are looking for. I see you are with ibm - their travel centre should be helpful. I grew up in S Pt but have been away some years, but do visit . If it is closer to the Main Road split it should be okay. Have you considered a B&B?
