Urgent for Rocco, Dennis or Tigerpaw!

Or anyone who has wired money to Lusaka. My bank needs the street address for the bank in Lusaka - anyone happen to have it? I'm going to do a google search, but we did one at the bank and came up empty. Thanks! (I've got a message in to LRL, but it's late there.) I'd like to get this going. All the paperwork is done. Just need that addy. Thanks in advance!

Ran into the same problem with one or two of my wires. We found if they enter just a single digit or alpha in the "address" area, it will be accepted. That is, as long as you have the city/country entered, i.e, Nairobi, Kenya or Arusha, Tanzania.

I presume your outfitter sent the info for their bank with PO or other address and the Swift code. Give it a try... worked for me.

Sandi, my bank seems to need the address to ensure that if anything goes amiss they'll know.

Nyamera - the bank is Zambia National Commercial Bank.

Thanks everyone!

Sandi - that sentence was supposed to end with so they'll know..where exactly it was supposed to go. I've never wired $$ before so it's all new to me!

I've found P.O. Box 33611 Lusaka, but not the street where the head office is.

Hi Nyamera - So nice of you to do that! We already had that, but for some reason they want the street address. Hmmmm...

the bank is at mfuwe airport, not sure they even have addresses there. in looking at my wire paper, there's not even a place for an address, just bank name and country.

Here http://www.znan.org.zm/documents/ZNA...IES%202004.pdf I found out that the head office is on Cairo Road. I think “Mfuwe airport” should be a sufficient address for the Mfuwe branch.

It seems from the responses, different banks different requirement, so if it's an address, it's an address. However, many (not all) African outfitters use POB and rather than actual street addresses. Do you have any earlier paper work from them with their address... usually found with their signature line. I'd send an email requesting what you need, the office maybe open Saturday morning. Otherwise, they're going to have to wait for your wire until they provide the information you need.

Thanks again everyone! I'm waiting for my bank to call me back. I've also got a message in to Barry. IT'll be fine, I'm sure. Can you guys see anything wrong with me sending the entire amount all at once? (Other than having to be a MAJOR Grinch this Christmas) ;-)

cooncat,

If you are able to send it all at once, go ahead and do it in order to save the $40 wire transfer or whatever it is that your bank charges.

Sorry I don't have a physical address for you, but, like Dennis, all my bank requires is a SWIFT code.

Rocco - $45 at my bank- that's my thinking. It's only $45 but at this point, it all counts!

I talked to my banker just now. She's going to wait to push the button til tomorrow to see if I hear from Barry.

Thanks once again!

So much for living in Southern California...it has been in the 40's each night lately and for the fight that I covered in Central California last weekend, it was 35 degrees by the time we left the casino at around 11PM.

This kind of weather is what is normally expected in January/February but I never expected it so early, otherwise I may have booked Tanzania for late January/early February.

Speaking of Tanzania, with a March 03rd arrival in the Ngorongoro Crater Area (NCA) / Serengeti, will I be too late to witness any of the calving?

Sharon,
Sorry to be so slow responding, but just signed on for the first time today and saw your message.
I just wired my deposit yesterday and had the same problem. My bank also requested an address. So I told them I would have to contact Barry and then call them with the information. I came home and sent an email to Barry, but before he could reply (as you said, it was the middle of the night in Zambia), the bank called me and said that they could go ahead and process the transfer without an address. So I sent another email to Barry. He will let me know when he receives the funds. Should take a couple of days. This is my first experience of wiring funds also. So maybe your bank can also proceed without the address.
