Help going with a group of eight to Egypt
We will like to visit the pyramid on our own, will it b better to hire a taxi for a day, or can we rent one back from the pyramids to the city?

We will like to go to Luxor, is it true air tickets rates are better from abroad? Any suggestion of a good tour operator in Luxor?

Contact a comppany called Spring tours in Cairo and they can arrange a small van for your group. The cost per person will be very affordable and you can negotiate for a guide. I would suggest a guide only to add to the knowledge of the area as there is a lot of history you will miss without the guide.
Have fun
Bill

It is very easy to get a taxi in Cairo to visit the pyramids. Just make sure to bargain down the price! The taxi driver will wait for you while you are at the pyramids and take you back to your hotel or wherever else you want to go.

It is true that we got better airline prices from the US than we did in Egypt. Also, at the EgyptAir office we went to (a smaller office) they only accepted cash. To pay by credit card we would have had to go downtown or to the airport which would have been a pain. It worked out because we got a cash advance from the bank but we were surprised by the cash-only policy.

We used day trips in Luxor from American Express Travel. Our guide, Moustafa, was excellent! He speaks great English and had a mastery of Egyptology. He explained everything at the monuments and made our visits much more hassle free. It was only $35/day/person for Karnak & Luxor temples and $45/day/person for Valleys/Hatchepsut/Memnon for a 10 seat airconditioned van, driver and guide.
