Did anyone see Nat. Geo's show Locked Up?

It was on this week. It was an hour long program on the tourists who were abducted and killed in Uganda. It scared the crap out of me.

I caught it. Not from the beginning, but as watching was able to recall when this horror happened to those gorilla tracking tourists. I believe I had seen this a few years ago... the subject, but may not have been the same actual NatGeo program.

Needless to say, this incident did turn Ugandan and Rwandan tourism on their heads... no one was going to be traveling there.

I think this incident was in 1999 at Bwindi.

I missed the program, but it happened at the A&K Lodge in Bwindi (Uganda) in March 1999. The guide was Mark Ross, who is an independent guide and not associated with A&K. He was abducted by Rwandan rebels along with his 4 clients and other tourists from the lodge. He wrote a book that includes this unfortunate incident. His book is very interesting and mostly about his experiences as a guide. It's called Dangerous Beauty: Life and Death in Africa: True Stories from a Safari Guide.
Maybe all this was in the program?

Kristina, do you by any chance have that book? If so, I'd love to borrow it for a month or two to read, if that's OK?

Lynda,
Yes I have the book and you're welcome. However, by the time we pay postage to ship it back and forth between the US and Canada, you can own your own copy from amazon.ca for only CDN$16.75. It's the kind of book you like to keep and re-read.

I've been watching this show for the last several weeks and I am always anxious for the next episode. I have the Uganda show recorded but I haven't watched yet. I'll try to watch tonight if possible.
