Photos from recent trip - trip report still in progress

This is from a recent trip to Cape Town, Selinda, Chitabe, Xigera, Mombo, Vic Falls, and Rwanda. Highlights include:

1) Being assaulted by a mountain gorilla (I apparently was in his way and he moved me out of his way)
2) Being charged by a hippo while in a boat (fortunately a power boat) between Xigera and Mombo
3) The entire morning excursion from Xigera heading through the delta and to the west edge of Chief's Island (one of the top things I've ever done, period)
4) Having an elephant come to within about 5 feet of our truck in Chitabe (Newman wasn't particularly concerned, so we weren't either)
5) Everything else

Let me know if you have any questions about where any of these were taken or what the circumstances were.

Your pictures are wonderful. The gorilla pictures especially. How are did you have to trek to get to them.

You are inspiring me to finally get my pictures posted.

Thanks so much for posting. Would you share what type of camera equipment you used?

For the gorillas, we saw the Umubano group the first day and the Hirwa group the second day. Umubano took a couple of hours to get to, Hirwa took less than an hour.

These pictures were taken with three point and shoot cameras - Canon A710, Canon S2, and Canon S3. I did have a telephoto adapter (1.5x) and wide angle adapter (0.66x) that I used some of the time. I would have either the S2 or the S3 as is, and the other one with one of the adapters on it.

I hope you were not injured in the assault. I've looked at the first couple of screens of your photos. Of course I am drawn to the cheetahs--those cute little faces and the adults in the wild. That caterpillar is one of the most fantastic photos I've seen. What colors!

I am especially looking forward to your description of #3 since it is one of the best things you've ever done.
