40th Birthday Girls Weekend in NorthEast - need ideas!!

I am planning my own 40th weekend bash! I want to invite 5-6 friends and pay for the lodging. I am looking to go the weekend of March 11th. We live in Central NJ - I am looking for someplace within driving distance. I can not decide if I want a bed and breakfast to rent out, a villa, or go to a city like Washington DC. I was hoping maybe some great idea would jump out at me! I would love to go someplace warmer but not sure if that is within reasonable driving distance and don't have the money for airfare and don't feel comfortable asking for others to do so in this economy.

Please help!!!

Or what about an off-season beach house at the shore somewhere? With off season prices, maybe you can get a huge, fabulous house with a view. We did this with couples one year in February (but further south) and found one with a hot tub and fireplace; we enjoyed cold walks on the beach, drinks around the fire, the view, the hottub, and just hanging out.

Alternatively, what about a B&B in a cute small town? My high school friends and I did a 20 year "reunion" trip to Shepardstown, WV. We booked rooms at a B&B and enjoyed walking around the small town, poking in the stores, hiking the nearby trails, eating in the cute restaurants: basically, all these activities were background for non-stop girl talk!

What interests you/your friends? Shopping? Sightseeing? What kind of budget do you have? I agree that LV might work if you can do at least 3 days. Travelzoo.com and travel-ticker.com are worth checking for deals but the current ones tend more to be for Jan/Feb.

I spent my 30th bday in DC in December and had a great time. The weather in March in DC is usually pretty nice.

Another option might be Newport RI, I'm sure you could get some great off-season rates.

Or maybe Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun?

Milford, PA is not too far from Central NJ. Newport, RI is also a good choice.

Hotel Fauchere @ 401 Broad Street, Milford, PA 570 - 409 - 1212.

Castle Hill Inn and Resort @ 590 Ocean Avenue, Newport, RI 401 - 849 - 3800.
