Trip to Vancouver in June
Would like to plan a trip to Vancouver from 2nd June to 12th June - myself, husband and 20yr old daughter. We have relatives there but not wishing to stay with them - they are in Richmond / Delta areas.
I would like to see Victoria Island and sightsee. One concern is we don't have a enough time .... plus we'd like to see relatives... Can anyone give me a plan / advice on what to do and see. Any recommendations for where to stay? Many thanks.

10 days is a comfortable amount of time, but it all depends on your plans and timeframes to spend with relatives. Can you sketch out how long you can visit Vancouver Island (not Victoria Island)? Victoria (city) is a fun visit but only good for about a day. (OK, we like to stay several days in Victoria, but we are vegging in a timeshare and watching the seaplanes.) There are other things to see on the island, if you have multiple days. It is an amazing area.
Are you going to stay with family in Richmond/Delta area or will you be able to stay in a hotel in downtown Vancouver? I ask because we do not stay with family when we visit, so we have that independence.
What sort of sightseeing are you looking for? Vancouver has some really wonderful gardens, nature/hiking/outdoors activities as well as a great walkable downtown.
The Sunshine Coast is always an attractive option, depending on what may be going on up there and your interests.
Would love to help you out more, if you can give a bit more detail.
Finally, check out HelloBC for some ideas: http://www.hellobc.com/

I'd actually recommend allotting two nights in Victoria, even for relatively fast-paced travelers. Butchart Gardens is worthwhile for its beauty and takes up about half-a-day and the Royal BC Museum is fantastic, especially for those interested in Pacific First Coast nations. If you're bored after that, there's cycling along Dallas Road with the gorgeous views of the Juan de Fuca Strait, there's whale-watching, high tea at the Empress...plenty to keep you busy & the harbour usually has a fun energy about it.
Vancouver has some terrific sights. Here's a run-down of my favorites: strolling/biking by Seawall/Stanley Park/Kitsilano, Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge, Grouse Mountain, hiking on Bowen Island, van Dusen Gardens, Queen Elizabeth Park & Bloedel Conservatory...
Have a great trip! Daniel

I think Kitsilano is wonderful. Other options would be the West End, Yaletown, False Creek. All of them are great IMO. Transit in the city of Vancouver is great to get to downtown, you may want to rent a car for part of your stay to visit the North Shore, as stated above, and some of the outlying spots.
