Toronto GTG??? November 2nd
Well, it looks like I'm going to be in Toronto for training at the end of the month. I should be there for about 10 days.
My free weekend is November 2-3rd. Is anyone interested in doing a lunch GTG on Saturday, 11/2?
Don't yet know where I'll be staying. And I'm only 99.9% sure of the date, as I have yet to receive my travel docs. But my new boss is working on them, he assures me.
Please weigh in (lunch vs dinner?) and suggestions for central? location??
Thanks!~

I can do either lunch or dinner and I'm pretty sure my SO can join us. Both of us were treated royally be Sarge when we were in Austin and I'm so happy she's going to be here!
If lunch, can I suggest somewhere around the St. Lawrence Market area? It's central, it's always a lively area and Sarge can experience the market.
There are tons of restaurants around there. Two I can think of offhand are the HotHouse, which has a good general menu and we've had a Toronto GTG there before, or Le Papillion which serves Bretonne-style crepes. There are tons of other places though.
Anyone else in? I think I'm going to post a link to this in the Lounge and also in the US forum in case we can lure a couple of Buffalo posters.

Yeah- it's official! I'll be arriving in Toronto on the 28th and spending 10 days.
So lunch on Saturday is a go! goddess- I'm expecting you to make the final decision on lunch spot and time!
I will be staying at the Novotel in North York. I believe that is close to a Metro stop. So, someplace close to another accessible Metro stop would be beneficial!
Looking forward to meeting the Canadian/NW US contingent!

I'm so excited. I just noticed it is only going to cost me US$0.97 for a Canadian dollar.
And the metro system looks very easy to use! (AND the Novotel seems to have a metro station right in the basement of the building!) I'm all set!
Just one more question of y'all- what is the best way for me to get to the Novotel from the airport? I will be arriving just before noon. I prefer a taxi. Can anyone tell me approximately what the cost would be? (The metro would be fine, but it looks like the subway line does not run to the airport... I'd have to take a bus. I will be dragging a full piece of luggage, so prefer not to take a bus.)
Thanks!

OK, here's what we've got so far:
Lunch on Saturday, November 2.
Attendees and possible attendees to date:
Sarge
goddesstogo and Mr. goddess
ElizabethS
Moolyn
irecommend
What does everyone think about the HotHouse on Front Street? It's got a broad general menu and the food is decent and not too expensive. Here's the link:

Any other suggestions? Other neighbourhoods? The Annex? Greektown? (Can't eat Indian, sorry.)
Once we decide on the restaurant, I'll make a reservation but I think I'll wait a bit till the list is firmed up. What about time? Noon? Noon-thirty? One?
Sarge, you get get an airport limo at Pearson. It will probably cost you $40 to 50.
Yes, the Novotel North York is right on the subway but don't worry about getting to the GTG. I live about 15 minutes from there and I'll come and get you.
I'm going to make this the only Toronto GTG thread now.

It's about $50 for a flat rate limo. You can book ahead and call or go directly to the kiosk after landing. We like AirFlight because they have a large fleet.

I will try to make it too. I currently have an unconfirmed morning commitment, but if it pans out, I will come downtown for the GTG, and be able to run a few other errands in the city as well. Won't be able to confirm until the beginning of that week unfortunately.
The Market area sounds fine, as does the Hot House (which we know) or any other eatery in the area. Noon or 12.30 works best for me and I'll have to leave at around 3.00pm to get back for an evening commitment.
Thanks for organising Goddess, and I hope to see you all.
