Where to go in early May?
My mom and I are going on a trip in early May as a graduation present to myself. I am 27 and she is 55. We both love nature and the beach. Hawaii was looking like the choice for us and we started planning a trip for it but my mother is balking at the long flight (we are in Ohio). Then we looked to Costa Rica but many of the places we want to visit lack resonably priced hotels with air conditioning.
So I am asking you guys if you have any ideas for us? I was thinking of perhaps going to a national/state park in the US ans then maybe a carribean island for the beach. Any idea would be great.

I like all of these ideas. I think Bermuda may be too posh for us. Florida Keys has been in my thoughts, I just feel like I have been to FL a zillion times. Especially the ones about breaking up the flight. I may have to give this lots more thought.

Would you consider St John's in US Virgin Islands?
Both a tropical Isle and in large part a US Park with lovely sand beaches, hikling and lots of interesting hisory.
Some US air carriers are nonstop, beautiful views everywhere, tropical paradise everywhere. Some lodging w/in Park, plenty of other lodging. You can snorkle and also take the interisland ferry to St Thomas for a day of Duty Free shoping.
