Where in Italy do we go for five days in October?
We have been to Rome, Florence, Venice and Positano. Although I could easily go back to any of those places, we are trying to figure out a new place to visit. I really enjoy the city life of Rome but I also love a smaller picturesque little town filled with coffee shops. My list of places in Italy that I dream of visiting is long and includes Sardinia, Corsica, Capri and Sicily.
So what charming place do you recommend us to spend our five days at end of October?

Ok, first off: Corsica hasn't been part of Italy for a very long time now, so scratch that one off your Italian must-do list.
I'm guessing what you really want out of "coffee shops" in Italy is public places for people watching, not great coffee (for which you should go to Napoli and Trieste, not exactly small towns however).
In October, I'd be looking at some small towns in Sicily, and Modica and Ortygia would be at the top of my list.

Since you have not seen Naples, that is what I recommend. You could take a boat trip to one of the islands for a day if you need to get out of the city in addition to seeing Pompeii and Herculaneum.

Thanks for the much needed history lesson and advice. I actually forgot to mention that we did go to to Naples but very brief so it doesn't really feel like we've seen it. But I will definitely look more into Sicily!
