Sharm el Sheikh - non-swimmer
I will be travelling in Egypt for around 10days and I'm also planning to visit Sharm el Sheikh.
I can't swim and so wondering if it is worth going to Sharm. Are there any other activities/sights around Sharm? Are the waters near the beach shallow to enjoy the underwater views.
Hope you can provide some suggestions

Lots to do other than dive/snorkel below
http://www.egypttripguides.com/optio...el-shiekh.html
I enjoyed St Catherine's Mount Sinai Hike VERY spiritual
Bedouin feast Camels nice
Also if Time went to Petra for an overnite personally
The MovenPick was awesome there...
Good deals at the marriott.com free suite upgrade
for preferred guests if you remind manager you
are entitled to upgrade to best available.
Go by all means very interesting and rugged beauty...
Happy Travels!

qw is right, there are other things to do in Sharm, out of the water. Find a kiosk near the Marriott at Naama Bay for Fun-n-Sun. They will have an entire menu of activities you can sign up for. No doubt your hotel will offer the same things, but probably at a bit higher price. You can bargain with Sun-n-Fun - the more people you are, the more activities you buy, the bigger discount you should be able to ask for.
If you are not afraid to be in a boat, there are Glass Bottom Boat rides for you to go see the fish and corals from as well.

You need to be in good shape for the hike to St. Catherine's Monastery. It's usually a nightly excursion and you arrive on top of the Sinai mountain to watch the sunrise. Take warm clothes!
Another excursion I liked very much was in a 4WD to/through the Coloured Canyon.

I beg to differ about needing to be in "good shape" to get up Mt. Sinai. While I couldn't these days because my fitness level is WAY below par, I was able to do it in 99 as an overweight HEAVY smoker, so as long as your knees and hips work reasonably well, you can probably make it up the hill. There are Bedouins along the way that will help, and I used one in 99 finally, after passing 2 others while thinking I could do it on my own. For about $5 (in 99) he got me up there and I felt pretty good by the time I arrived.

You can also hike through canyons. The hike goeas through the White Canyon and the Coloured Canyon, and if I remember right there was also a third one. In the end there was some rope climbing, but it was not too difficult. Maybe they have stairs now, it was 4 years ago.
It is a spectacular walk (and climb) but takes some huffing and puffing. At least did for a 55 year old little woman (who smoked). But if I did it, anybody can do it.
