Renting a mobile phone at Heathrow airport (terminal 3)
Hello,
Can anyone recommend any shops in terminal 3 arrivals where I can rent/hire a mobile phone? I am arriving at Heathrow airport in London on 8 October from the US. I will be in the UK for two weeks. I have read on many web sites that it is possible to hire a mobile when you arrive in Heathrow, but it would be great if someone can provide a good recommend (or ones to avoid) as I assume there are several options available.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Pete

This is a topic where it is worth doing a search because there are many threads with a great deal of information on different phones/pricing structures etc.
As Alan has said, it is very easy to pick up a basic "pay as you go phone" in virtually any supermarket or shopping centre for less than £20 that will include call time (Argos has £10 phones, Tesco and Sainsbury both around £12) There are ways of getting calls to the US at very cheap rates (around £0.03 a minute).

Just go to a Carphone Warehouse, there are many and get the cheapest deal they have going. I got a Samsung, with a 20 pound topup and called the US twice a day and never ran out of minutes. I spent around $40. Just tell them you want the cheapest, they will do tht for you, program numbers and whatever. Took 10 minutes at a shop near Pic Circus. As soon as you hit the streets of London you'll run into one.
