Algarrobo's nicest beach is Playa El Canelo, in a secluded cove south of town. It's an idyllic spot of fine yellow sand, calm blue-green water, and a backdrop of pines. Though quiet most of the year, it can get crowded in January and February. Follow Avenida Santa Teresita south to Avenida El Canelo and the pine forest of Parque Canelo. Guarded parking there costs 4,000 to 5,000 pesos. Amenities: parking (fee); food and drink. Best for: swimming; surfing; sunset.
