Santiago Centro

Shiny new skyscrapers may be sprouting up in neighborhoods to the east, but Santiago Centro has its share of construction going on, too. During the past decade, the population downtown has nearly doubled, but that’s for the whole comuna, not just the casco histórico, which is close to the Alameda and runs from La Moneda up to about Santa Lucía. Take the metro down here, not a taxi, for easy transportation, as the usual traffic headaches apply to downtown Santiago.
