Craignair Inn Review

It's tough to find a better waterfront location than Craignair, which overlooks Wheeler's Bay and Clark Island on 4 waterfront acres. It was originally built to house granite workers from nearby quarries. The annex house was the chapel where the stonecutters and their families worshipped. Rooms aren't as wonderful as the views but are clean and functional. You can easily explore Clark Island by walking over a narrow isthmus. Another perk is the excellent food. Chef Seiler, most recently from the Samoset Resort, wins awards for his creative cuisine served in the inn's dining room ($$$). You might want to start with the Caribbean jerk grilled shrimp brochettes or the steamed Great Eastern mussels and move on to pecan-crusted salmon, bacon-wrapped tenderloin, or baked stuffed haddock.
