A few miles removed from downtown Reno's flashy main drag, the Peppermill generates its own glitz with a neon-filled casino that's as dazzling as any. The baroque suites in the new Tuscan Tower should set a new standard for luxury in Reno. (At this writing, the new wing was expected to open in early 2008). The casino's superior dining options include the White Orchid; Oceana ($$$), an over-the-top seafood restaurant that feels like you're eating inside an aquarium; and Romanza ($$$), with fabulous place settings of Versace china and a planetarium star show. Pro: Casino decor is worth a special trip, good (and inexpensive) coffee shop. Cons: Some may find the amount of neon a bit over the top.
