Fairmont Le Reine Elizabeth

$$$-$$$$, Downtown

User Rating: **** 4.4

Fodor's Review:

John Lennon and Yoko Ono staged their "bed in for peace" in Room 1742 of this hotel in 1969. Rooms are modern, spacious, and spotless, with lush carpeting and richly colored fabrics. The suite-level floors -- 20 and 21 -- have business services, and the Gold floors -- 18 and 19 -- have their own elevator, check-in, and concierge. The hotel is the site of many conventions. Pros: easy access to trains, Métro, and the Underground City; excellent afternoon tea. Con: lobby is as busy as a train station.

A good hotel

I like trying out small, boutique hotels in Montreal, but half the time I stay here. Some of those hotels are great, some are terrible, but this hotel is one that I can always book, knowing that it will be there for me!

Convenience outweighs Cramped Quarters

I've stayed here a few times and each time I go I experience something new. The rooms - Yes they are small, reminds me of what it might be like in Europe. I don't spend a great deal of time in the rooms as the location is great. My room has always been clean and well supplied. The waitstaff though not extremely warm and fuzzy - is very capable and attentive to my needs. Unlike the states - where customer service is on the decline. I found the staff (from bellman to manager) were eager to assist and made it clear that they were there to make the stay most enjoyable. This past visit - our rooms were not ready so we were given complimentary vouchers to enjoy a cocktail on Le Reine Elizabeth. Jacuzzi kinda grossed me out...something about soaking in hot bubbly water where many others were prior explains the foam and film...YUCK! (Truth be told-it didn't stop me from going in - just grossed me out. So I just scrubbed down in the shower when done.) If you like convenience - this is the place for you. Underground Shopping, and Metro underground only 2 stops away from Place D'Armes (Notre Dame) or 3 stops from Champs De Mars (Vieux Montreal), one block away from Rue Ste. Catherine. 'Round the corner from the free shuttle buses that deliver you to and from the casino. Like I said, this hotel is CONVENIENTLY Located.
