Mexico City Shopping

Mercado del Sábado

  • Outdoor/Flea/Green Markets

Fodor's Review

A must if you're in town on a Saturday is a visit to this market. Hundreds of vendors sell crafts, silver, wood carvings, embroidered clothing, leather goods, wooden masks, beads, amates (bark paintings), and trinkets at stalls on a network of cobbled streets outside the bazaar's building, a two-story colonial mansion. Inside are the better-quality—and higher-priced—goods, including alebrijes (painted wooden animals from Oaxaca), glassware, pottery, jewelry,

and papier-mâché flowers. A patio buffet and an indoor restaurant will help you conquer hunger and thirst.
