From Tejeda, the road winds down to San Mateo, whose local cheese is famous throughout the island. You can find it at the weekend market. Pass Santa Brigida and turn right toward the golf club on the rim of the Bandama Crater. Continue to the village of Atalaya, where there are cave houses and pottery workshops.
