El Xampanyet

El Xampanyet Review

Just down the street from the Picasso Museum, hanging botas (leather wineskins) announce one of Barcelona's liveliest and prettiest taverns, usually stuffed to the gills with a rollicking mob of local and out-of-town celebrants. Avoid the oversweet house sparkling wine (go for draft beer, real cava, or wine), but don't miss the pa amb tomaquet (toasted bread with squeezed tomato and olive oil) or the Ibérico ham served on marble-topped tables near walls decorated with colorful ceramic tiles.
