ABOUT
Like many of the towns in this region, Penamacor is a mix of old and new. Dominated by the ruins of an ancient castle, it was a key link in the chain of strategically placed fortified communities. On its outskirts are newer stucco houses, many built by Portuguese emigrants with money earned working in France and Germany.
