Azul and Viva Review

In creating his continent-hopping New World cuisine, owner Eduardo Vargas drew upon his globe-trotting childhood and seven years as a restaurant consultant in Asia. As a result, the menus in Azul, the tapas bar downstairs, and Viva, the restaurant upstairs, feature a delicious, delicate balance of flavors that should please any palate. Classics like beef carpaccio contrast with cutting-edge dishes like coffee-glazed pork. Lunch and weekend brunch specials are lower-priced. The relaxed, romantic interior—dim lighting, plush pillows, and splashes of color against muted backdrops—invites you to take your time on your culinary world tour.

    Azul and Viva Review

Worthy of a Fodor's star? Not really. The ceviches are unexciting and sadly tiresome after only a couple of bites. The drinks - oh, the drinks - they were all out of the ones we wanted, and returned multiple times asking us to change them. If in the area on a late evening out, Azul/Viva is OK - but otherwise we would not bother tracking down again.
