Fodor's Expert Review Gran Observatorio Solar de Chile

Vicuña Observatory

Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.

This project of the Pangue Observatory claims to be the only solar tourist observatory in South America. Using a specialized Lunt Solar System Telescope—one of only seven in the world—visitors can observe phenomena such as sunspots, the equatorial bulge, and solar flares. Tours run all day and throughout the year, though observations are often hampered by overcast weather June to August.
