Seemingly defying the logic of El Norte Chico’s otherwise barren landscapes, Parque Nacional Fray Jorge is a lush cloud forest formed by a unique microclimate. Calling this semidesert oasis home are the chungungo (South American sea otter), Humboldt penguins, and the Andean fox as well as almost 300 endemic plant species.
