One of Ilha do Mosqueiro's most popular beaches, Praia Farol, is often crowded because it's close to Vila, the island's hub. At low tide you can walk to tiny, rocky Ilha do Amor (Love Island). In October and March the waves are high enough for river-surfing competitions. Praia Morubira, also close to Vila, has beautiful colonial houses and many restaurants and bars. The water is clear and the shore clean at Praia Marahú, but no bus from Belém travels here directly. You have to disembark in Vila and hop another bus.
This beach is lined with trees and has soft white sands and clear emerald waters that stretch for miles. If you can't bear to leave at day's end, consider a stay at the Hotel Fazenda Paraíso. Amenities: food and drink; toilets. Best for: solitude; sunset; swimming; walking.
