In 1950 Don Alberto Zuccardi, a civil engineer, developed a more modern system of irrigation for his vineyards in Maipú and later in Santa Rosa. He and his son Sebastian (both of whom have been ranked among the top five most influential personalities in Argentine wine by Decanter magazine) continue to push boundaries and play with new approaches to viniculture. The extensive tourist offerings here include harvest experiences and olive oil–making sessions in season, as well as vineyard rides, cooking classes, and even hot-air balloon trips. There are two restaurants on-site: one is based entirely on olive oil–infused dishes (including a rich olive oil chocolate tart), while the other serves a popular all-you-can-eat asado or a 12-course tasting menu.
