This multilevel space's division into an array of sofa-filled rooms makes an evening at this home away from home for Washington's hipper globalists seem like a chill house party. Live bands perform Tuesday through Saturday. Jazz musicians often entertain on the top floor of the former mansion, and the luxe back deck, complete with hanging chandeliers, provides summer visitors with two extra bars and a fresh-air dance floor. Fans of ambient house music flock here as it's the home of the ESL record label and the renowned musical duo Thievery Corporation.
Dress up a little, especially on Fridays and Saturdays, because the club frowns on baseball caps and athletic wear like tank tops and jerseys; men should also avoid shorts and open-toe shoes.
