Fodor's Expert Review Cyrus McCormick Museum

Lexington Museum/Gallery

The inventor of the first mechanical wheat reaper is honored at the Cyrus McCormick Museum, which sits about a mile off I–81. Follow the signs to Walnut Grove farm; now a livestock research center, this mill farmstead is where McCormick did his work. In addition to the museum and family home, you can tour a blacksmith shop and gristmill. All are registered as national historic landmarks.
