Fodor's Expert Review The View Hotel

Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, Off U.S. 163, about 25 miles southwest of town, Mexican Hat, Utah, 84536, USA

Aptly named, the hotel is all about the vista—prices increase the higher the floor, and almost every room looks out to the Navajo Tribal Park's famous "mittens." The rooms are fairly ordinary, except of course for the Navajo sand paintings, authentic rugs, and traditional bedspreads. Each room is also outfitted with a microwave, refrigerator, and flat-screen TV. Premium cabins were added in 2014 and are a great option if you're looking for more privacy.

PROS

  • wonderful views from private decks
  • the only hotel actually inside the tribal park
  • for budget travelers, some rooms without views are available at a steep discount

CONS

  • architecture inside and out isn't that interesting
  • Internet only available in the lobby and restaurant
  • bad cell-phone reception
  • architecture inside and out isn't that interesting
  • restaurant could be better
