The Gateway York Farmers' Market

Bring your own bag for morning shopping at the Gateway York Summer Farmers' Market, held in the back lot at the York Region Chamber of Commerce every Saturday, late May–October, 9 am–1 pm. You'll find fresh, locally grown produce and flowers; lots of baked goods, pies, and artisanal breads; local meat and eggs; and handcrafted items like soaps, jewelry, pottery, and candles. Golden Nugget Antique Flea Market

Vintage is hot because it's green and stylish, and if you don't mind digging around piles of stuff, you may enjoy hunting for period pieces, toy trains, lamps, old kitchen tools, porcelain, jewelry, and all kinds of memorabilia from the '60s and '70s. The market, open since 1967, has more than 30 often-overstuffed indoor collectibles and antiques shops and dozens of outdoor stalls. Wednesdays are quieter. A small café is on-site.

Originally launched by a group of parents as a yard sale to raise funds for their children’s schools around 1979, this curated weekly market (held every Sunday, year-round) is now NYC's largest and oldest flea market and features the works of local artisans and independent vintage dealers. Dozens of vendors offer everything from 1950s rhinestone jewelry, vintage clothing, and posters to current items by local and international artisans. There are some food vendors, too, since browsing for bargains can make you hungry. Ikeda's Country Market & Pie Shop

For more than a half-century a de rigueur stop between the Bay Area and Lake Tahoe, Ikeda's started as a produce stand selling fruit harvested from its Japanese-American owners' orchard and the freshly baked pies brimming with that fruit. Ithaca Farmer's Market

The open-air Ithaca Farmer's Market is perhaps Ithaca's hottest ticket on a weekend morning. Artwork, food, plants, and flowers, all local, fill the 80-plus stalls. The market is open seasonally. Weekends (May–October, Saturday 9–3, Sunday 10–3; April, Saturday 9–3; November and December, Sat. 10–3) are at Steamboat Landing, off Route 13, a mile north of downtown. A Tuesday market (May–October, 9–2) is held at Dewitt Park, at Cayuga and Buffalo streets.

Kauffman's Orchard Market

For more than 100 years, the Kauffmans have cultivated 100 acres of apples, pears, and stone fruits, all of which they sell in their country market along with cider, "schnitz" (air-dried apples), baked goods, a variety of jams and fruit butters, and Pennsylvania honey and maple syrup. Keller's Flea Market

Kona Farmers' Market

An awesome flower vendor creates custom arrangements while you wait at this touristy farmers' market near the ocean. There are more than 40 vendors with souvenirs and crafts for sale, as well as some of the best prices on fresh produce, lei, and orchids in Kona. The market is held in a parking lot at the corner of Hualalai Road and Alii Drive from 7 to 4.

Kuilima Farm Stand

Turtle Bay Resort purchased 468 acres of prime North Shore agricultural land near the entrance to the resort and created an organic farm to supply fresh ingredients to its restaurants, as well as to support 34 sustainably farmed community garden plots. A farm stand with multiple stalls shares the bounty with locals and visitors. Pull off the highway to pick up sustainably grown pineapple, papaya, corn, and other fruits and veggies, plus locally made souvenirs. The stand is open daily 9 to 5, and farm tours (from $25) are offered Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings at 9 and 10:30.

Crafts, T-shirts, fresh produce and flowers, and souvenirs that range from authentic to average make this enormous flea market—operating since 1981—the island's biggest bargain. Vendors selling Maui-made food items or freshly cracked coconuts can be found next to the food trucks serving fresh, affordable, authentic local food.

From Peterborough, it's a scenic 20-minute drive by way of the historic villages of Dublin and Harrisville to reach this sustainable farm set amid rolling fields and hardwood forest. To spend a bit more time strolling the farm fields and mingling with the livestock, book a stay in the stylishly furnished guest cottage.

Missoula Farmers' Market

No less than three outdoor Saturday morning markets are held downtown in the summer. The oldest and biggest is the Missoula Farmers' Market, which boasts 100 local vendors selling an amazing array of flowers, fresh fruits and vegetables, locally baked breads, and other handmade goods. It's held adjacent to the old train depot at the north end of Higgins Street every Saturday morning from mid-May to mid-October, as well as Tuesday evening from July through mid-September. You can even view what's available on the market's website before you go. You can also check out the Clark Fork River Market under the Higgins Street Bridge and Missoula People's Market on East Pine Street, not far from the farmers' market.

Missoula People's Market

The Missoula People's Market showcases more than 80 local artisans, featuring unique Montana arts and craft. Stop by to check out fine pottery, metalworks, fine woodworking, photography, leather work, clothing, jewelry, and functional and whimsical art---and the artists who created it. Open Saturday morning from mid-May to mid-October.

This hub of activity is at mile marker 29, about six miles before you reach Hana. Here you can buy some coconut candy or peruse the small gift shop selling jewelry and trinkets, and other souvenirs.
