Why We Like It

What’s there not to like about a place that makes sure your every need is taken care of? The price to stay is steep, but it’s worth it considering all that comes with it. We love that our meals are included, we have access to kayaks and paddle boards and can pick from any one of the 20 unique fitness and discovery classes taught each day. For those wanting to detox both their bodies and minds, this relaxing hideaway will set your chi right.

One of Austin's most exclusive escapes, this Hill Country resort and spa is located 30 minutes from town, on a prime stretch of Lake Austin shoreline. The expansive property’s stretch of cottage-style guest rooms overlook verdant lawns and calm lake waters. A range of daily fitness and wellness programs, including Tai Chi on the docks, culinary classes, and hydro-bike rides on the lake, are included in package rates. Signature services at the award-winning spa are extra, but well worth the splurge. The onsite Aster Cafe features healthy, yet flavorful, gourmet fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Recently redesigned rooms epitomize rustic elegance, with every imaginable comfort and amenity.

The resort offers 20+ fitness and education classes each day. Examples of different classes taught include candlelight meditation, core pilates and homemade pasta.

dining

Organic and locally sourced ingredients--some from the resort's backyard--make up the French-inspired menu by Chef Stephan Beaucamp. Guests can indulge in carefully crafted "conscientious" cuisine while looking out over the lake. Sample menu items for the dining room include sauteed stripe bass and pan-seared scallops. Aster's Cafe, which typically serves breakfast and lunch, often opens in the evening for special events or visiting chefs.

YOU SHOULD KNOW Three meals and a daily snack are included in your daily rate.

Getting Around

This spot is secluded on purpose, so you’re going to want to rent a car to come and go. Parking on site is free. You could probably get an Uber or taxi to take you out here, but it’s going to add up. There's a water taxi option available that takes you into town or other parts of the Hill Country area with prices ranging from $25-$105 one way.

Restaurants

The award-winning Steiner Ranch Steakhouse (10-minute drive) is located in the Hill Country and has sweeping views of Lake Travis. Their menu features hand-selected premium cuts, the freshest of seafood, and an over the top brunch on Sunday mornings. New American eatery Oasthouse Kitchen + Bar (15-minute drive) predominantly uses local ingredients for their lunch, dinner and brunch menus. Make sure to check out their butternut squash soup and Texas Wagyu steak.

Bars

Though it’s not known for having five-star food, The Oasis (13-minute drive) makes up for it with its grand view of Lake Travis. The Tex-Mex menu is fine, but you’ll really want to sip a margarita or martini and watch the sun set over Hill Country. Visit the Oasis Texas Brewing Company tap room (13-minute drive) and enjoy any one of the brand’s award-winning beers. Built into the cliffs overlooking Lake Travis, the brewery also serves up foods and live music.
