When to Go

Peak Season: May to September

Summer heat waves are common and temperatures can soar well into the 90s, especially in and around Philadelphia. Temperatures in the 80s are more common in other parts of the state this time of year.

Off Season: December to February

Winter temperatures, particularly in January and February, often hover around the freezing mark, and many attractions and restaurants limit hours or close for the season, especially in the mountainous Poconos region.

Shoulder Season: October; March to April

Temperatures are usually in the 50s in most parts of the state during shoulder season, and the spring in particular can be rainy. Western Pennsylvania can be rather chilly well into the spring.
